WHAT IS PROLOZONE THERAPY INJECTION?
Prolozone Therapy Injection or Ozone Therapy Injection is an alternative therapy that increases the amount of cellular oxygen in the body via the introduction of ozone into muscles, ligaments, and joints. Unlike the healthy cells that thrive in oxygen, disease causing bacteria (i.e. viruses, parasites, and fungi) are mostly anaerobic and are not be able to survive in high oxygen environments.
HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN AROUND?
Medical oxygen-ozone injection therapy has been used in Europe since the 1950s to relieve neck and back pain, and is gaining traction here in the States as a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of chronic pain. Recent literature has shown ozone injection therapy is extremely safe and has been shown to be very effective as a non surgical alternative disc treatment. In one recent study "around two-thirds of patients who had ozone injected said it relieved the pain caused by disc problems".
HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK AND HOW MANY PROCEDURES DOES IT TAKE?
That really depends on the severity of the injury and how that individual person's body responds to the treatment. We have seen as little as one injection being effective to numerous injections being required. Significant decrease in pain occurs in the three to seven day time frame. That is the typical window of time Dr. Rucker utilizes to ascertain whether future injections will be needed.
IS IT PAINFUL AND HOW LONG DOES THE HEALING LAST?
Patients are typically sore at the injection points and feel achy for 24-48 hours. Usually the most healing occurs after the 24-48 hour window. In theory the healing to the connective tissue is permanent. It really depends on each individual patient and how their body responds whether or not they need future prolozone injection treatments.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CORTISONE AND PROLOZONE THERAPY?
Cortisone is a temporary solution and only masks the pain, it does not fix the issue. Prolozone is a non-surgical treatment and the results can be permanent. Prolozone signals “growth factors” to heal and repair the connective tissue around the injured area.
WHAT CONDITIONS HAS PROLOZONE THERAPY TREATED?
We have found it to be very effective for Musculoskeletal disorders including: Degenerative Joint disease, Arthritis, Neck pain, Back pain, Carpal Tunnel, and Plantar Fascitis.
For our senior citizens we have seen amazing results with Ozone Therapy in order to expedite the healing process. Some of the conditions and symptoms alleviated with Ozone Therapy are arthritis joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, joint disease, and pain resulting from a slip and fall to name a few. It is a viable option for someone to consider prior to getting a surgical procedure.
WHAT IS THE COST?
Cost is $150 for the Intial Doctor Consultation, $200 Cash per injection for each area treated. Total Initial Cost is $350.
Any subsequent injections will cost $250 per injection for each area treated including the Doctor Consultation.
IS IT COVERED BY INSURANCE?
Most insurance companies do not reimburse for Prolozone Therapy. We were just approved for MEDICARE and can’t confirm if they will reimburse forProlozone Therapy. Once we get a definitive answer I will update this sheet, but as of this writing MEDICARE does not reimburse for Prolozone Therapy.
